AI copilot
Describe a change in plain language and the copilot makes it, with the same modelling commands you would use. It decides which commands to run; the analysis engine computes every number.
The copilot in Structural
It edits; it does not answer
Nodes, members, sections, materials, supports and loads — created, moved, copied or deleted with the app’s own commands. It never writes a result: displacements, forces and design ratios come only from the analysis engine.
One reply, one undo
However many changes a reply makes, Ctrl+Z reverses all of them together. If a request needs a section or a load pattern that does not exist yet, it is created in the same step.
Says what it cannot do
It has a fixed set of abilities. Ask for something outside them and it says so rather than pretending.
Using it
- The Copilot button is at the right-hand end of the status bar. You need to be signed in; the model does not need to be saved first.
- Be specific: “add a beam between nodes 4 and 7 using section B1” leaves nothing to guess.
- The Free plan includes 20 turns per calendar month; Pro and Team have no monthly limit (fair use). A refusal at the limit says when the count starts again.
- Each turn sends your message and the open model, through our server, to OpenRouter, which routes it to an AI model provider — currently Anthropic or OpenAI. See the Privacy Policy for how long it is kept.
Connect an AI assistant (MCP)
StructLib is a Model Context Protocol server. An assistant you connect can list your projects, open a model, check it, analyse it, read displacements, reactions and member forces, and edit and save the model — through the same code the app uses. The address is:
https://app.structlib.com/api/mcp
- Claude (web or desktop): Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, then paste the address.
- Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http structlib https://app.structlib.com/api/mcp - Other MCP clients: add an HTTP (streamable) server with the address above.
The first time, your browser asks you to sign in and to allow the connection, listing exactly what the assistant asked for — reading your models, saving them, running analyses. You can deny any of it, and disconnect it later from your account’s sessions. Analyses requested through a connection run on the cloud engine, which is part of the Pro and Team plans.
What a connected assistant may do
Only what you allowed when you connected it: read your projects and models, save models back into your projects, and run analyses. It cannot delete anything — not a model, not a project, not a member — because that permission does not exist. A save never overwrites someone else’s newer version: it is refused, and the assistant is told who saved and when.
